The South Dakota Bankers Association (SDBA) is the professional and trade association for South Dakota’s financial services industry. Established in 1884, the SDBA enhances members’ ability to be preeminent providers of financial services. Through the SDBA, hundreds of South Dakota bankers volunteer each year to serve on SDBA boards, committees, task forces, and AIB committees to educate South Dakota’s consumers and promote financial literacy.
The Association provides continuing education, develops and monitors state and federal legislative agendas, disseminates information on all facets of the financial services industry, and promotes the public image of financial institutions, among other activities. To carry out these efforts, the Pierre-based SDBA employs seven full-time staff members and one part-time employee. The SDBA also has a satellite office in Sioux Falls.
The South Dakota Bankers Association publishes The South Dakota Banker, a monthly magazine, containing articles about Association programs and events, important industry trends, news about member banks and their employees, and regulatory information.
As today’s financial industry grows and changes, so do the needs of SDBA’s members. The South Dakota Bankers Association continually strives to evaluate, improve, and increase its programs and services in an effort to meet the needs of its members.
