The Pizza Hut Story

The first Pizza Hut opened in 1958 in Wichita, Kansas. Two brothers, Frank and Dan Carney, borrowed $600 from their mother to finance their new venture. Their vision and drive developed a franchise system that became a worldwide success.

In 1977, Pizza Hut merged with PepsiCo, Inc. By joining PepsiCo, Pizza Hut joined with other industry leaders: Pepsi-Cola brand soft drinks and Frito Lay brand snack foods. When combined with other PepsiCo restaurant chains, Taco Bell and Kentucky Fried Chicken, Pizza Hut is part of the world’s largest restaurant group with units in almost every city in the world.

In 1995, ProServe, a Denver based company, purchased the Pizza Hut, Inc. owned units in Nebraska forming Peak Interests L.L.C. (Limited Liability Company), a new member of the Pizza Hut franchise family.

ProServe Corporation was formed in October of 1984 by Joseph M. Aragon, President and Chief Executive Officer. The company operated as a family-run business during its early years and worked to build a base of restaurant and food service operations to become one of the fastest growing food service companies in the Rocky Mountain Region.
